Gamblers beware

You love to gamble, you know it’s true

It’s just something you have to do

You sit there watching the balls roll

Bingo is good it has an easy flow

A community of women nattering away

Spending more money, so they can play

Adding dots to their tickets, hoping that it’s their turn to win

As do roulette players as the wheel spins

Little numbers on a wheel

Will you win?

Is this bet for good or ill?

Then a game of poker is just what the gambler needs

You just hope that your opponent isn’t up to tricky deeds

The slot machines sets you in a trance

Whilst the fruit and bells spins as if in a dance

You keep on pressing those little buttons

Those tiny wins make you a glutton

You’re sure you’ll get it big right now

If you take another turn

Win back your losses or so you think

Then you sulk as your luck has spurned

Then you think, you’ll deposit some more

Then you find in your mind there’s war

You know you need to stop right there

But you keep pumping money into the machines in despair

You need that win, you need it now

But your luck has just turned stale

You’re now a gambler in a terrible world

You now need help to get unfurled

Gamblers anonymous is your new group

They help everybody in all age groups

So stop the gaming and stop it now

Your debts will get paid back, somehow

But not by gambling, the debts will get worse

And who’s to blame for your financial curse?

Emotional fluxes

There are seasons in my heart the world has not yet known

A season of rain and a season of sunshine and a season of snow

Different to spring, summer and winter

These are my fluxes of emotion

Though it may sound overblown

But each day you can’t tell, which season I am in

Let’s just hope it’s a sunny one and let’s hope fun begins

Headache in the office

Good morning, I have a headache

It seems to be regular

It’s such a nuisance, it’s such a pain

To wake up with a headache, it drains

Good morning, says your co-worker

But you want to punch them in the face

For being all so cheerful as the time was out of place

You can’t blame them for being happy

A headache makes you snappy

All you want to do is sit in quiet

But your female colleague goes on about her diet

Then the phone rings like a drill to your head

You sit and stare it at and then the rest of the day you dread

Ring, ring, twenty times an hour

And people wonder why you are bitter and sour

Maybe you should take the day off?

But you can’t because in this recession they’ll write you off

So on you plodder wearily

Wincing at every noise

Whether your colleagues like it or not

You’ll be a killjoy

For you have a headache, that you’ve warned them

So is it your fault that you scorn at them?

For laughing joyfully next to your chair

Thumping like a drum on your head, making you swear

It seems pointless to make them aware

Have you tried tablets your boss inquires?

It will help your headache to transpire

So you take those little white pills

And after an hour you don’t feel so ill

Your headache now gone, it has surpassed

But you sit back and wonder how long it will last?
