The king of winter

The cool crisp air is beckoning winter onwards today

The trees drop their leaves in submission to winter’s king

The flowers fall into humbled curtseys at this king’s presence

And they lay a carpet of white frost for his regal feet

Soon they will bask in his regency sending gifts of crystallized water

The world becomes his treasury laid out for all to see, how marvelous it is to be

The king of winter
