A rose for the first day of Inktober.
Here is my first ever attempt at working with traditional Winsor & Newton inks and it is for the first day of Inktober, which is today!
It’s a lovely rose in a frame, ink colours include, gold (yes finally bought some) mixed with apple green, there is scarlet mixed with white to make pink. I have been told by my husband and a friend that this should be considered for a Valentine’s Day card, never really thought about doing that, but I can see where they get the idea from!

Relaxed, lounging on the cream velvet chaise lounge dressed in a gold silk dress she smoked from her cigarette extension listening to adagio for strings on full volume, watching the city below her closing down for the night.
Her man, not far from her was helping himself to another glass of whiskey quietly and thoughtfully.
Years has past she thought to herself, years they have seen mortals below them come and go in their petty little lives, lives that they needed and not any of them ever questioned how long they’ve stayed in the area and how they’ve never changed, not even a spot.
Funny creatures she thought to herself.
Such potential though, their talents are wasted on their greed and their dramas, if only they knew.
Finally she broke the silence.
“Are you hunting tonight darling”? She said to the man behind her.
“I hadn’t thought of it, why are you hungry then my dear”? He enquired.
Now I understand that this snippet is full of adverbs and mistakes, but this is what I do when I am between writing actual stories. I just sit and I write random stuff and the most frustrating thing is that on Facebook I have many friends who are writers and I ask them questions like “do you do this too”? They never answer me. So am I alone in how I write? Or do all writers sit down with a plan?
Also understand that this is a first draft and is not part of a planned story, it was just something I wanted to get out of my head and I couldn’t go any further with.

I cannot satisfy my blood lust anymore
It attacks me each and every day
In each and every way I want more
I cannot refuse it, but it doesn’t quench my thirst
So I carry on, my eternity is turning grey
I wish it would stop, to fate I implore
I’ve heard some of us go mad
The vampires of old have said
Drink blood till it’s cold and bad
A blood-lust can get you can get in your head
I can’t control it, it controls me
I can’t run away, from myself I can’t flee
I kill tirelessly, drinking, crying, and watching people dying because of me
I’m a vampire; I’ve gone mad I’ve bats in the belfry
I cannot stop the killing, someone please stop me
A vampire kills to survive, not more than three a week
Yet I keep on killing, I hunger for the last heart beat
That beautiful sound, that reason gets drowned in
The peace of the death of the victims I hold
The light in their eyes go out, this time is precious like gold
I am in heaven when they’re dead
For just a few moments
How I wish I could join them there forever
For I’m weary of heavens fragments
The vampires of old, they worry about me
They know I’ve lost my mind
But for now I cannot flee
Like an alcoholic I drink blood like wine
Drunk on the death of mortals
Endlessly seeking a portal
To end my existence
If you offered a way to end this
I’d take it in an instant

Sliding down a rainbow, half wet and half dry
A little child leprechaun laughs on, passing by
A pot o gold, for ye
If you can catch me by the rye
You go after to chase him
But you’re too slow, you sigh
Laughing gaily at you
He forms a distant shape
He is smiling at you by the farmer’s gate
A little luck just passed you
But you caught it not
For you complain it ran too fast and the day is far too hot
So why are you complaining
That luck has passed you by?
When you could have worked much harder
Now you live to strive
A little luck needs effort
This you’ve clearly been taught
Just don’t go thinking on
That life just gives you nought
For you need to meet fate halfway
For if you don’t you know well
That fate will throw things back at you
And it will cause you hell
