The writers block monster

It is time that people stopped believing in the writer’s block monster, because for professional writers, this really doesn’t exist unless you are incredibly stressed and even then it is just an excuse to not write anything.  I am not a professional writer and since I taught my brain to think differently about writing and what I write, writers block has never occurred.  You really do need to train your brain into thinking differently and here is how.

A good way to conquer writers block and make it a thing of your past is to simply look about and clasp your eyes on something beautiful, unusual, interesting, anything.  A bowl of fruit, a particular fruit in that bow, your cat or dog, events going on outside the house that you can see from your window, anything can help you to get back on track to writing.

You see, being a writer doesn’t mean that you sit down day in and day out writing the same thing over and over again or the same story even, until it is perfect before you go into your next project – no!  An average writer writes a lot of different things, most of the time those things never ever lead into a story or poem at all.  Because by and large it is the practise of writing which makes you a better writer, not dishing out as many finished projects that you are proud of sharing with others, most of your work will never be read by anyone but yourself.  It is also good practise to not get into the habit of throwing work away if you feel it is not going anywhere, because you never know when you might need it.

You see practise really does make perfect.  So look at that bowl of fruit over there and write about it, make at least a one full page description of it.  What does it look like?  Where are the shadows falling?  What are the textures you can clearly see?  Are there any fragrances emanating from the bowl to entice you to eat?  You’d be surprised at how much you can write about this.

It all helps you progress not only into becoming a better writer, but a writer who actually writes regularly, daily – it helps you form the writing habit, which is essential if you want a career in writing eventually, because once the door is opened to you, you’d be expected to write a lot, so forming the habit of writing and thinking about writing practise snippets is really an essential part of an everyday writers life.  You really have to stop believing in the writer’s block monster, because there are endless opportunities to write about something – anything!

Daily Prompt 3

I am sorry that I haven’t kept up with the daily prompts; because of the heat my monitor and a couple of other things around the house literally burned out and I don’t type well on a laptop so when my desktop computers are out, I tend to write by hand only.

I now have a new monitor for my computer, because hooking it up to the laptop was a failure for some reason, the icons on the desktop wouldn’t load up, just the background image.

But anyhow all this techy stuff is boring, let’s get on with what I am about to say.

I am going to restart the daily prompts from today onward, but this time I am going to let you think up things for yourselves – I don’t want to make my own brain think up new ideas because I am too overloaded with unfinished works and works that haven’t even been started yet!  I realised on the second prompt I did, that my mind was working on yet another new idea and I realised I just can’t let myself think about the prompts I am giving to others for myself.  I just can’t, I don’t have the time and I need to get finished with all this other stuff first – especially as I am trying hard to write more than I ever had.

Today’s prompts are – Sapphires – Gnomes – Ethereal – Pony pulled cart – An escape

Though I am not putting any energy into thinking about the ideas myself, I have to try and stop my mind and it is hard, because even this is giving me ideas.  Anyway, I am just not going to put my mind there – but please do use these prompts to help you to write if you need it.

Also please reblog this onto your page and put your story or poem into the comment, so I know that these ideas are helping someone.

Thanks for reading.

If you can’t cope then don’t make me

If you can’t cope with life and you enter my life, you will sail in troubled waters

If you can’t swim you’ll sink, perhaps our relationship you should rethink?

I am not going to be easy, when I’ve had a hard life

You’ve got to walk with me, or turn away to your light

I have bright days, good days too, I have than more often than you have a clue

I know I suffer and I shout it loud, but I have overcome things and for that I am proud

I am not disillusioned, I am not speaking lies, I have worked hard to live and to thrive

So when I don’t handle your bullshit, think why should I?  Then you should quit, because if the load is too heavy for you, then you don’t have the right to make me carry it too

I have my own baggage, I don’t want yours

I want a new life, with golden calm warm shores

I don’t want to dig another person’s grave; I don’t want to be your emotional slave

I want a life where things go smooth, where life is lived, not thought through

I want a life where action is key, a life where I am happy and ultimately free

So don’t bring me down because you can’t cope, because you think you know me when in fact you don’t

So don’t sit there and whine and moan, when I am out working things out and leaving you alone

I don’t wallow for long my friend, I work it out, I learn how to mend

So should you

You really should

Because living this way, is very good

Don’t offload your baggage to others if you want to be happy, if you want to live happily, change this habit snappily

It’s in your hands, not some chosen saviours, it’s in your hands and in your behaviours

So learn to ride alone in your emotional rides, learn it now and you will rise

I am the redeemer

Out from the corner of my eye, I see the world’s pain.

Just because I do not react, does not mean that I am not sane

I remain, neutral, in my neutral stance

I cannot bear to see you suffer, but I cannot stop your circumstance

Though you may fall and become weak and you may do crazy things

I am here to redeem your soul and hear you once again sing

Though you are desperate and cannot walk

I am here for you

I am waiting for your cue

I am here to redeem you

I fully intend to do NaNoWriMo next month; I have a novel fully planned for the occasion.  Whether or not the actual novel will be completed by the end of the month remains to be seen, but I hope that at least half of the story would be done by the end of it.

I have entered the NaNoWriMo giveaway from the website www.thewritepractice.com to win the NaNoWriMo survival kit, please click the link below to help me gain more entries.

Calculating Words

750words.com is excellent, I’ve been writing on there every day since I found it and I have discovered my flaws – the words I used too often, though I have learned them I haven’t yet learned how to control how much I use them.
Also, I have discovered what subject’s interest me depending upon my mood or emotional state, therefore, I can predetermine what type of story I should write based purely on how I feel that day. This is excellent because I have worked out that based on my emotional moods today, I should write with great fervor anything to do with horror or violence; because today, I am mostly stressed and angry.
Horror is another genre I love to write for.
750words.com is good for people who like to use the site known as http://nanowrimo.org/ as you can see how much you are likely to write each day outside of your normal fiction or poetry. I have learned I can fit in at least 10,000 words per week towards my writing effort as an average that would mean I have the ability to complete at least four novels per year if I put my mind to it. What is amazing is that 750words.com times your writing to the second, it includes any pauses you may do and I have learned that I write for an average of 15 minutes a day using that site alone.
So, if I am writing non-fiction and just babbling about myself like I do on 750words.com then that means I can write 750 – 1200 words within 15 a day.
Egotistically I have learned I can fart out 2000 words a day if I am talking about myself or my life, but working with fiction is another matter – I average about 500 words per 30 minutes.
Poetry on the one hand is another matter too – with poetry I can push out a new poem every 10 minutes.
Thinking about this, I am unsure really what it means, but it’s interesting in any case.
Let it be known, I only take 500 words per 30 minutes with fiction, if I have not planned scenes – if I have planned scenes I can write 3000 words an hour and that’s no exaggeration!
I haven’t been able to write that fast within the same time frame with planned scenes for a long time though, because of my illness. Coughing and being very ill in other manners take up a lot of time as one tries to compose themselves – anyway – things are going to improve soon as a new operation seems imminent = adenoidectomy.

Kelpie

Glaring lights, pale as death, call you and me.

Dancing through the leaves of the night, dancing around the willows and the oak, hearing the sounds of mysticism in an endless voice of hope:

What is it that we evoke?

Rushing through the air of the night, filling our souls with curious delight; the moon shines upon us as we run after thee, O what can you be? What can you be?

The silver of the night can be what you are or a guiding star? Yes a guiding star!

You took us from our campsite when the air was chilled and harsh – you made us run bare footed across the country grass!

Nightly dew soaks our wandering feet and we search for where you go. Roaming free like a bird in the sky you fly, through the leaves of the trees in the night!

But we remain warm with your charms dear light.

Running endlessly we wonder where you take us. Miles and miles it seems… we run through the fields and past the stream, this feels like a wonderful dream!

Pure is your light of wonder, warm is your glow, but where do you take us, where do you go?

What are you which we evoke?

Faster and faster you run wild and free, past the streams and the tree’s and we run faster along with thee.

We hear a mystical voice again, calling like a choir, calling our names to follow still, even though the night is chilled!

Brighter and faster the light becomes running through the corn. We follow and run helplessly we become most forlorn!
The light has gone! The light has gone!

O where are we now?

As if it was all a dream we suddenly awake from the hypnotising light we are in the lake… we are in the lake.
Drowning, mourning sorrowfully, we cry and call for help. But all that hears our calls this night is the old mythical creature the Kelps!

All we do now is yelp and yelp!!!

Gothic Glue

With my rhyme, you fall in love
Enchanted by my words, you’ve found that your fantasies come to life
I can see my power over you; you take my hand in its silken glove
I make you travel with me through all your pain and strife
You need me, I need you, and together we are stuck like glue
Forever, eternal, we will pull through
When all your hope has faded, I am there for you
When all your dreams are shattered, I will repair them too
When all seems lost, I am your seeker
I am there so you can’t fall deeper
I am your life

Raoul

Coast to coast I sail the universe looking for my enemies that I curse

To take away their fearsome power, their energies I’m soon to devour

I shall win this war and go back home, no longer shall I have to roam with mortal man and live in secrecy

I will defeat them, wait and see

A wall can be broken down like Jericho; I haven’t much farther to go you know?

I can see the defiance in my enemies’ eyes, I will be stronger, but it’s all lies

You can’t defeat me anymore, I’ve opened wide the universal door

My help has come in brimful loads

Your reign of terror will implode

We’ll seek you out and you will be stricken down in catastrophe

I will not lose this immortal war

I love my realms, they I adore

I set free all my creations

You are my next decimation

Gamblers beware

12820044-the-set-of-vector-casino-elements-or-icons-including-roulette-wheel-playing-cards-chips-dice-and-mor

You love to gamble, you know it’s true

It’s just something you have to do

You sit there watching the balls roll

Bingo is good it has an easy flow

A community of women nattering away

Spending more money, so they can play

Adding dots to their tickets, hoping that it’s their turn to win

As do roulette players as the wheel spins

Little numbers on a wheel

Will you win?

Is this bet for good or ill?

Then a game of poker is just what the gambler needs

You just hope that your opponent isn’t up to tricky deeds

The slot machines sets you in a trance

Whilst the fruit and bells spins as if in a dance

You keep on pressing those little buttons

Those tiny wins make you a glutton

You’re sure you’ll get it big right now

If you take another turn

Win back your losses or so you think

Then you sulk as your luck has spurned

Then you think, you’ll deposit some more

Then you find in your mind there’s war

You know you need to stop right there

But you keep pumping money into the machines in despair

You need that win, you need it now

But your luck has just turned stale

You’re now a gambler in a terrible world

You now need help to get unfurled

Gamblers anonymous is your new group

They help everybody in all age groups

So stop the gaming and stop it now

Your debts will get paid back, somehow

But not by gambling, the debts will get worse

And who’s to blame for your financial curse?
